Mangos

Papaya

Typically measuring 8–10 inches, they transition in color from green to yellow to black as they ripen. With a mild, subtly sweet flavor and dense texture, plantains are very versatile.
Limes
These small, round citrus fruits with bright green skin typically measure 2 to 3 inches in diameter. Their tangy, zesty flavor is tart and refreshing. Their juicy flesh is divided into segments, packed with juice. Typically found in tropical and subtropical climates, they are known for their vibrant color and shared, aromatic taste.
Pomegranates
Pomegranates are striking fruits known for their rich, ruby-red color and tough, leathery skin. Typically ranging from 4 to 6 inches in diameter, they are filled with hundreds of jewel-like arils, each containing a burst of sweet-tart juice. The vibrant seeds are encased in a white, spongy membrane, and the fruit’s unique texture and flavor make it a prized addition to any fruit collection.

These easy-to-peel citrus fruits are small, typically 3 to 4 inches in diameter, and have bright orange skin. They are less tart than most citrus varieties. Dragon Fruit
Dragon fruit, native to Central America, is a striking fruit known for its vibrant pink or yellow skin and unique appearance. Typically weighing between 10 to 20 ounces, it has a soft, white or red flesh speckled with tiny black seeds. With a mildly sweet, refreshing taste, and crunchy texture, dragon fruit’s flavor is a blend of pear and kiwi.
Coconut
The coconut is grown in many tropical regions. The versatile fruit is renowned for its hard, brown, fibrous outer shell. It typically weighs between 1.5 to 2.5 pounds, and contains a sweet, watery liquid. Once cracked open, the white firm flesh offers a mildly sweet and nutty flavor.
Palmer
The Palmer mango, a top-quality variety from Florida, is available in small quantities from Brazil between August and October. Its skin starts purple or red and ripens to light red and yellow. With firm, melting flesh, it offers a sweet, mild flavor. As a late season mango, it ripens after Tommy Atkins and before Keitt, making it highly sought after during its peak.
Keitt
The Keitt mango, grown primarily in Mexico, is a large, oval variety weighing 24–40 ounces. Available in peak volumes from Mexico (June to September) and Puerto Rico (February to November), smaller supplies come from Nicaragua (March to April) and Peru (February to March). Its skin often stays green with a pink blush when ripe, though some may turn slightly yellow with stronger pink or red tones. Inside, its fiber-free, firm, juicy flesh is vibrant lemon yellow with a mild sweetness and rich, fruity flavor.
Tommy Atkins
The Tommy Atkins mango, widely grown and available year-round in the U.S., weighs 16–24 ounces with an oval to oblong shape. Its skin displays golden, greenish, and orange tones with a crimson or dark red blush and a waxy texture. Inside, its firm, fiber-filled flesh ranges from lemon to deep yellow, offering a sweet, mild flavor with fruity undertones.
Nam Doc Mai
The Nam Doc Mai mango, native to Thailand, is recognized for its striking appearance and exceptional flavor. Rare in the United States, it’s found primarily in specialty markets in Japan and Europe, with limited availability from Ecuador from October to December. This long, slender mango (12-16 ounces) ripens to a greenish or canary yellow hue, and sometimes with a hint of red. It is known for its soft, juicy flesh.
Ataulfo
The Ataulfo mango, known for its high quality and smaller size, is primarily grown in Mexico and available from February to August, with smaller supplies from Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru from September to February. Weighing 6-8 ounces, the sigmoid-shaped mango has smooth, canary yellow skin. Its fiber-free, firm flesh is durable and delivers a sweet, spicy flavor with a buttery texture.
Kent
The Kent mango, grown in Mexico, Ecuador, and Peru, ensures a consistent supply with peak seasons from December to March and May to August. This large, oval-shaped mango (24–32 ounces) ripens to golden yellow with a crimson blush and speckles, though it may retain green tones in drier climates. Its soft, juicy orange flesh delivers a sweet, rich flavor.

The Haden mango, first grown in Florida, now thrives in Mexico, Ecuador, and Peru. Available during peak seasons from October to December and March to May, it’s a reliable favorite. Medium to large (24–32 ounces), it stands out with radiant yellow skin, crimson-red blush, and speckled dots. Inside, its firm orange flesh offers a sweet, tropical taste with hints of pineapple and peach.
